Our story

The History of BlackCSI

A company built on the idea that one accountable team serves a client better than five separate vendors.

2002: The Founding

BlackCSI began in Pennsylvania in 2002 as a certified woman-owned business. From the start, the company was organized around a simple observation: most technology providers specialize in a single discipline, whether that is managed IT, cybersecurity or cabling, and clients end up coordinating several vendors with no one answerable for the whole result. When something falls between those vendors, the client absorbs the blame and the downtime.

BlackCSI was built to remove that gap. The founding premise was, and remains, that a client should be able to hand the entire technology burden to one team and get back to running the business.

Growing the Mandate

Over the years that followed, the company deliberately widened what it was able to take on rather than narrowing into a specialty. Today BlackCSI operates as both a Managed Technology Services Provider and a Managed Intelligence Services Provider, delivering managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud services, AI consulting, telecommunications, audio and visual systems, video surveillance, access control and structured cabling under one roof.

That combination is unusual. It means a client can work with one point of contact and one team that is accountable for the outcome across the whole environment, from the network and the cloud to the cameras on the wall and the cabling behind them.

2012: Joining the Technology Assurance Group

In 2012 BlackCSI became a member of the Technology Assurance Group, a peer network of managed service providers. That membership extends the company's reach well beyond its own bench, bringing the capability of hundreds of peer MSPs across more than 150 marketplaces. For clients, it means support can follow a business wherever it grows rather than stopping at a service area boundary.

Earning Trust Through Standards

Growth in services was paired with investment in formal accountability. BlackCSI maintains ISO 27001 and HIPAA compliance, and holds Tier 1 Microsoft Partner status, capped by a Microsoft Solutions Partner designation that places the company in the top five percent of Microsoft providers worldwide.

These are not marketing decorations. They are the evidence a client's auditor, insurer or board will ask for, and they exist because the company chose to be measured against external standards rather than its own description of itself.

Leadership

BlackCSI is led by Ruthann Black, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Angela Pasquini, Chief Financial Officer, who together guide the company's vision, strategy and operations. The leadership team sets the tone the rest of the organization is held to, and that tone is deliberately unglamorous: honesty first, details handled before they become problems, and responsiveness treated as a promise rather than an aspiration.

The Client Commitment

A detail of the commercial model says a great deal about the history. BlackCSI asks for one year of a client's business, then moves the relationship to month to month. The company has to earn the business again every month instead of holding a client inside a multiyear contract.

That commitment runs past the technology itself. BlackCSI reviews clients' cybersecurity insurance for coverage gaps, connects clients to partners that reduce their costs, and treats the client's profitability as the real measure of a successful partnership.

What the History Amounts To

More than two decades in the industry has produced a company that is broad in what it can deliver and specific in how it answers for it. The core purpose has not moved since 2002: to provide clients with sustained, exceptional value in product, services and people, by empowering its own people to maintain an environment of integrity, professionalism and responsiveness, while working as a team focused on clients, the company and the community.

The promise that closes the story is the one that opened it. BlackCSI carries the technology burden so clients can focus on running their business, delivering managed IT, cybersecurity and cloud services proactively by solving problems before they become outages. The company measures itself by client uptime, client security and client confidence that their systems are in capable hands.

That standard holds on every engagement, without exception.
